Virginia's Racing Region

Chambers of Commerce in Danville, Martinsville, South Boston, and the counties of Halifax, Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania recognize the importance of NASCAR racing to our region. This area is proud of its racing heritage and its future.

Virginia's Racing Region includes a NASCAR Winston Cup Series track (Martinsville Speedway) and a NASCAR Winston Racing Series track (South Boston Speedway). The area also is home to a Winston Cup Team (Wood Brothers Racing Team), a NASCAR Busch Grand National Team (Hensley Racing), and the homes of two Winston Cup drivers (Jeff Burton and Ward Burton) and the home of Craftsman Truck Series drivers Jimmy Hensley and Stacy Compton. It also was home to the late Wendell Scott, the first black NASCAR driver. Many NASCAR Late Model Stock drivers and teams live in the region.

Virginia's Racing Region also looks forward to the planned Virginia Motorsports Museum in Stuart. This project, supported by the State of Virginia, will be adjacent to the Wood Brothers' shop.
